Odisha bagged six medals in the 63rd National Open Athletics Championship held at Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bangalore. The six medals included two Gold, two Silver and two Bronze. Odisha Team secured overall 5th position and among the state third position.
New sensation in sprint after Amkiya Mallick that Lalu Prasad Bhoi emerged as the fastest man of the meet winning 100m Gold medal and also member of 4x100m Relay which secured Gold medal also. With Lalu other athletes were Amiya Mallik, Anuimesh Kujur and Abhinash Sahu in 4x100m Relay Team
Olympian Srabani Nanda proved that at the age of 33, she can challenge young athletes in sprint events, securing Silver medal in 200m and also part of 4x100m Women relay who got Bronze medal. Other athletes were Sukhi Baskey,Mery Mukta Soreng and Binati Behera.
Pragyan Prasanti Sahu added one more silver medal in 100m Hurdles for the state and Susmita Tigga secured Bronze medal in 300m Steeplechase which she is the first Odisha Women athlete who secured medal in Senior long distance category.
